3DS MAX Modeling Wooden Relax Chair Tutorial

Before starting this tutorial we have to make sure that we have all the reference images available with us so that we can go ahead modeling with any problems. I have got few reference images, which you can download in the following link: Download. Once we are finished with this tutorials we are going to get an image similar to the one shown below:

Final Rendered Image of wooden relax chair.

Step One
Now let us start this tutorial by creating an arc and then let us mirror the arc as shown below.

Figure 1.

Step Two
Draw two lines connecting the arcs and attach all the splines as shown below.

Figure 2.

Step Three
Once we finishing attaching all the splines let us weld the vertices as shown below.

Figure 2.

Step Four
Now let us select all the vertices of the bottom arc and the move it in such a way that it exactly matches with the reference image as shown below.

Figure 4.

Step Five
Clone the Spline we just created and then move the cloned spline and position it such a way that it matches the reference images as shown below.

Figure 5.

Step Six
Now let us fine tune the spline to match the reference image as shown below.

Step Seven
Clone the Spline we just created and then move the cloned spline and position it such a way that it matches the reference images as shown below.

Figure 7.

Step Eight
Now let us fine tune the spline to match the reference image as shown below.

Figure 8.

Step Nine
Create Three Rectangles. Position them as shown below.

Figure 9.

Step Ten
Extrude the Splines as shown below.

Figure 10.

Step Eleven
In the Top Viewport create a shape similar to this. Note : If you want you can create a plane in the top viewport with length: 20.5 & Width: 143 and apply the top reference image that I provided and finish the Shape.

Step TWelve
Once the Spline is ready. Rotate it a little and move as shown below.

Figure 12.

Step Thirteen
Extrude the Spline as shown below.

Figure 13.

Step Fourteen
Unfreeze All. Delete the chair reference plane. Move the handles a little as shown below.

Figure 14.

Step Fifteen
Mirror the parts we created so far as shown below.

Figure 15.

Step Sixteen
Extrude the Three Rectangles we created earlier as shown below.

Figure 16.

Step Seventeen
Draw a spline similar to one shown below.

Figure 17.  Click here to view larger image.

Step Eighteen
Position the spline. Extrude the spline as shown below.

Figure 18.

Step Nineteen
Create a Box in the Right Viewport as shown below.

Figure 19.

Step TWenty
Position the box as shown below.

Figure 20.

Step Twenty One
Duplicate one of the rectangles we created earlier as shown below.

Figure 21.

Step Twenty Two
Change the Extrude values. Reposition as shown below.

Figure 22.

Step TWenty Three
Create two Lines as shown below.

Figure 23.

Step Twenty Four
Select the box and use Spacing Tool as shown below.

Figure 24.

Step Twenty Five
Move the Boxes as shown below.

Figure 25.

Step TWenty Six
Use the Spacing Tool Again.

Figure 26.

Step Twenty Seven
Move the Boxes and delete the excess Boxes and also the Lines.

Step Twenty Eight
That is it we are done with this tutorial, after playing with materials I got the final rendered image as shown below.
